WHAT IS MOUNTAIN STATES DOG TRAINING
CLUB?
MSDTC is one
of the oldest organized all-breed clubs in the Denver metropolitan area and,
as of 2008, has held 118 obedience trials and four agility trials. This past
spring we held our eighth rally trial. We also sponsor a large obedience and
rally match in February of each year, try to hold an obedience seminar once
a year and have other events as time and personnel allow.
To assure
smooth running of club events requires continued support by the membership.
Members help by setting up and tearing down rings for shows; holding such
positions as show chairman, chief ring steward, agility trial chairman,
building and equipment chairman, trophies, etc. Obviously, it is necessary
that we continue to add new members to our roster so no one person has to
shoulder all the tasks needed to be done.
Recognizing
that meetings don’t fit well into today’s lifestyle, MSDTC has reduced
meetings to a bi-monthly basis, and two of these six meetings are held as
part of a social gathering –– the summer picnic and the winter holiday
party.
How does all
of this benefit you? If you are interested in obedience and rally or agility
and want to foster these activities in the area, your support in helping us
put on our events will go a long way toward continuation of our trials. You
will have the opportunity of meeting individuals who have vast experience in
obedience and rally and agility and you will learn far more about how the
whole thing works when you are looking from the inside out.
Not to be
forgotten is the fact that members who work at least two events during the
year receive discounted fees for our seminars and matches. Members also get
first shot at entering events with limited entries.
Joining the
club is easy. Just fill out an application found elsewhere on this website
and have it signed by two members and attach your application dues amount.
If you don’t know any of our members, bring it with you to a meeting, which
will also be announced on this website, and someone will sign for you. You
need to attend two events and/or meetings before being voted on.
